The Buzzing Brass Pathway​

Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced musician Buzzing Brass is for you. To insure the best results yearly lessons are recommended.

 

Beginners start with 30 minute lessons using the Buzzing Brass Method Book One or the Essential Elements 2000 Book 1. As students progress the length of lessons increase to firstly 45 minutes and then finally 1 hour.

 

Depending on the progress made in their first year of lessons students in their second year begin working towards end of year grade exams. These exams cover both music theory and music performance (including air tests) starting at Grade 1 and finishing at Grade 8. Parents/students have the option of Trinity College, Buzzing Brass, or NZMEB Grade Exams.

 

Beginner to Intermediate (Grade Initial - 3)

  • 40 lessons per year (10 per term)

  • October/November exam period

  • Buzzing Brass Method Book One or Essential Elements 2000 Book 1

 

Intermediate to Advanced (Grade 4 - 7)

  • 40x one hour lessons per year (10 per term)

  • Buzzing Brass Intermediate Method Book

  • October/November exam period

 

Advanced to Professional (Grade 8 - FTCL/Postgraduate)

  • Minimum 24x one hour lessons

  • Buzzing Brass Advanced Method Book

  • October/November exam period

  • 10% Family Discounts: 2 or more having separate lessons in same family.*

  • Tell a friend discount: You will receive a 20% discount for one term if you "Tell a Friend” and they pay for a term of lessons in full.*

 

* Highest discount will be applied per term.

Payment Options
  • Per lesson, Fortnightly, Monthly, or per school term.

  • If taking weekly lessons and paying per term there will be a 10% discount when paid in full within the first two weeks.

 

Instrument Hire

Instrument hire plans are available through Wellington Brass Band and can be paid for through Buzzing Brass. Instruments available are (subject to supply): Soprano cornet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, Tenor horn, Baritone horn, Euphonium, Trombone, and Tuba. Trumpet and French horn are not available through Wellington Brass.

Instrument Hire plans are also available through ABI Music (including Trumpet and French horn)

Where

Lessons take place at the Wellington Brass Band rooms in Ngaio, at the Air Force Band rooms in Wellington City, and at Masterton District Brass Band Room in Masterton.  BB Wellington Youth and Beginner Band rehearsals take place at the Wellington Brass Band rooms. BB Wairarapa Youth and Beginner Band rehearsals take place at the Wellington Brass Band rooms.

 

Individual lessons can be held elsewhere but may incur additional costs.
